Bachmann rides again

20 Jul

It’s been a while since we mentioned Michele Bachmann.

If you search the archives you’ll find she is the subject of a lot of stories.

Very few of them positive.

The fact that some believed she would make a good president says more about the people who supported her than the loony she is.

Just winning the Iowa Straw Vote was a miracle in every sense of the word.

We’re not going to run through her history – it’s all here if you want to search for it.

We will share her latest foot-in-mouth comment.

Senators in her own Republican Party, political candidates, some in her state’s delegation and leaders of the House Republican Conference are all getting as far away from her as they can.

What did she do?

The lady is saying the wife of former Representative Anthony Weiner has ties to the Muslim Brotherhood.

Huma Abedin is a senior and trusted aide to Hillary Clinton and well liked on Capitol Hill.

House Speaker John Boehner says Bachmann saying Abedin has family ties to the radical Middle East group is “pretty dangerous.”

We think “pretty stupid” is a better fit.

Here’s how it came about:

Bachmann and four other Republican send out letters to various intelligence and national security agencies.

They raised questions about the Muslim Brotherhood and specifically mentioned Abedin, accusing her late father of having ties to the Brotherhood.

It’s important to note Bachmann is a member of the Intelligence Committee, where she sees highly classified information.

Both the chair and some members of the committee are said to be extremely angry over the letters.

Bachmann is not backing down: “I will not be silent as this administration appeases our enemies instead of telling the truth about the threats our country faces.”

Even her her former presidential campaign manager is saying Bachmann has “difficulty with her facts.”

Something we have commented on many times.

To think so many people once supported her boggles the mind.
