Voting for pizza

10 Dec

Elizabeth-Warren-sizedDemocrat Elizabeth Warren fought quite the campaign against Republican Senator Scott Brown.

This was in Massachusetts, and he’s the guy who replaced Ted Kennedy after he died.

Her campaign is looking for money.

A mass email is out to contributors saying it’s broke after spending all the $42 million it raised from people.

Before we go further, we should explain a few things about the incoming Senator lady:

1) She’s a bankruptcy law expert

2) Harvard Law School professor

3) She served as Assistant to the President and Special Advisor to the Secretary of the Treasury for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau

This kind of person should be super smart about things like budgets and money, we would think.

Here’s the reason they over-spent what they had:

Warren says her campaign didn’t properly budget for the massive amounts of coffee and pizza consumed by her get-out-the-vote volunteers.

She also said her campaign had underestimated the number of vans needed on election day.

And that has led to this, “…we ended up with a little bit of debt… we need a little more money to pay off our final bills. Can you help one more time?”

The Boston Globe reports that little bit of debt is well into six figures – about $400,000 according to one campaign official.

That’s a lot of pizza.
