Abercrombie gets company at the bottom of the list

Michigan-governor-rick-snyder-sizedA new Public Policy Poll survey in Michigan shows Republican Governor Rick Snyder is one of the most unpopular governors in the country.

Only 38 percent of voters approve of him, and 56 percent disapprove.

The interesting thing is Snyder dropped 28 percent from the weekend before the election, when he signed the right-to-work legislation into law.
Before he did that – his approval rate was 47 to 37 percent.

There’s no doubt it’s the right to work law and his support of other actions by the Republican legislature that are driving all this.

Only 41 percent of voters in Michigan support the right to work legislation, and 51 percent are against it.

If voters got to decide the issue directly only 40 percent said they would vote to keep the law while 49 percent would vote to overturn it.

Abercrombie3-sizedHe now joins Neil Abercrombie who a year ago was named the “most unpopular Governor in the country” in PPP’s polling.

Only 30 percent of voters approved of him with 56 percent giving him a thumbs down.

That was a drop of 33 points for Abercrombie in six months.

Independents (21/65) and Republicans (13/80) both showed their dislike of Abercrombie.

But what really sinks his numbers is that even Democrats barely approved of the job he’s doing – 43 percent gave him good marks while 39 percent did not.

The used to say it’s lonely at the bottom.
No more.
