This was very dumb

Under-Driver-Seat-Gun-sizedOne should never judge an internet news story and the people who comment on it.

In this case, it’s hard not to.

In Detroit, Rachelle Guyton said she called 911 Saturday night to report that her minivan had been stolen from her apartment building.

But it wasn’t the van she was worried about.

She told the CBS reporter she had a gun under the car seat, and when she called the police department to explain this to them and try to have them help she said they told her to call back in 90 minutes.

She goes on to worry about what might happen if a child gets hold of the gun, “I’m responsible, and I just can’t have that on my conscience.”

The first thing that came to our mind is – what did she expect police to do at that moment?

Form a posse and go looking for the car?

The next thing that came to our mind – and probably yours too – is why the hell did she leave a gun in the van?

Especially since she lives in a high crime area, which most of Detroit is.

You’d think the idiots who troll the internet would wonder the same thing.

Nope.

What followed was dozens of comments about how blacks can’t govern and they are responsible for Detroit turning into a war zone.

There were more than a few pokes at President Obama being responsible.

So, what about leaving the gun in the van?

The lady never explained why she did such a dumb thing and just one comment seemed to care either.

The lesson here is the lady wasn’t very smart and the people who read and comment on these things on the internet are not very nice or smart either.

They don’t represent the heartbeat of America and it’s scary that some people think they do.

To top if off, the story was crap.

Why didn’t the reporter ask her why she left the gun in the car?
