For us it’s naps.
For President George W. Bush it was his trips to his ranch in Texas.
For President Obama it’s his love of golfing.
Same for Bill Clinton.
Some day we have to tell the story of him playing golf here in Hawaii at 9 at night.
The Secret Service was holding lighters near the flags so he could aim in the darkness.
Now, Texas Republican Rep. Louie Gohmert doesn’t want the President to be able to golf until public tours of the White House start again.
It case you missed it, they have been stopped because of the sequester budget cuts.
Tickets to get a tour of the White House are handed out by congressional offices, and stopping the tours was has ruffled some feathers.
Gohmert filed an amendment for the continuing resolution bill to stop government-funding to keep Obama from traveling to a golf course.
Since the president can’t get anywhere without spending taxpayer money – like the cost of transportation or the Secret Service detail that follows him around – it’s impossible for him to make it to a golf course without spending public money.
His amendment says, “None of the funds made available by a division of this Act may be used to transport the President to or from a golf course until public tours of the White House resume.”
The House Rules Committee says it won’t be considered.
